Several Sound Design Core Units

Critical Listening 1 and 2 ( 2 cr.), Jack Arthur Simanjuntak

The focuses on critical aspects and analytical criteria of sound and musical area. Topics include understand sound, audio basics, sound quality, imaging/panning analysis, listening environment, frequency/harmonics/decibel listening skills, audiotory system, etc. Listening capability is emphasized as main part on this class.

Recording Techniques 1 and 2 ( 2 cr.), Jack Arthur Simanjuntak

This unit will introduce the fundamental sound concepts and techniques of recording skills, microphone techniques, recording music instruments. The students will use Pro Tools software to record class recording session and students' final project.

Psychology of Sound ( 2 cr.), Jack Arthur Simanjuntak

This class is dedicated to comprehend how psychology, sound and music, anatomy interacts to produce auditory perception. Recognize phenomenon such as masking, psycho-acoustic phantom power, frequency selectivity.

Physics for Audio ( 2 cr.), Lina Cahyadi

Essential perceptive related with sound physics include basic concept of oscillation, vibration, waves, fundamental formulas calculation, doppler effects, standing waves, phytagorean theorem.

Sound Design New Media ( 2 cr.), Jack Arthur Simanjuntak

This unit is aimed to give an understanding of the theory and perform of audio production for visual media such as animation, film, digital video, interactive media. The class will emphasize basic concept of sound design, sound philosophies, recording techniques and abilitiy of using the industry standard Pro Tools software.

Audio Software ( 2 cr.), Bonar Darmawan Abraham, Jack Arthur Simanjuntak

Theory and practice, bring in standard critical software for editing and manipulating digital sounds and also crucial music production software. Software: Reason, Cubase, Nuendo, Band In A Box, Wavelab.

Adv Sound Design Course 1, 2, 3, 4 (2 cr.), Jack Arthur Simanjuntak, Willy Haryadi

Theory and practice of sound composition in music and audio production, visual media, sound sculpture, sound effects. This course includes innovative integration with visual media exploration, to examine the chemistry between sound and images. Software: Pro Tools, Cubase, Native Instruments, After Effect, Premiere Pro, Wavelab
